Position Description:
The Account Manager assists the Assistant Director in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the UFCW Health Insurance Plan, including the Prescription Drug Program, the Vision Plan, the UFCW Dependent/Health Care Reimbursement Accounts and the UFCW Sick Benefit Plan.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Administers the UFCW Health Insurance Plans by providing customer service in the following
- areas:
- Claims processing.
- Acts as liaison between participants and service providers.
- Investigates and resolves discrepancies involving claims, prescriptions and miscellaneous problems reported with any health service providers.
- Determine health care eligibility for U.S. and Canadian members. Update and monitor eligibility on appropriate systems and communicate with the IT Department and applicable providers as necessary to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Updates participant records, reviews and reconciliation and processing of monthly per capita billings.
- Oversees mass mailings pertaining to UFCW health insurance programs including the open enrollment for the UFCW Dependent/Health Care accounts. Coordinates open enrollments for HMOs and PPO.
- Reviews Cobra and Domestic Partner application letters for quality control, as required.
- Acts as liaison between local unions and ULLICO for the Barbers, Beauticians and Allied Industries International Association through the UFCW Sick Benefit Plan. Investigates and resolves claim problems by responding to inquiries from local unions and members. Provides accurate information to local unions on the guidelines and procedures for proper reporting of membership information.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping data strictly confidential, including, but not limited to, the privacy provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Must have knowledge of UFCW Headquarters, regional office and local union structure.

Education and/or Experience
- Related Associate or Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related progressive experience or 6 years of related, progressive experience.
Computer/Software Skills
- Familiarity with navigating through database systems in order to retrieve and verify information. Familiarity with word processing is required.
Communication Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plan documents and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. Service-oriented demeanor is required.
- Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required
- Must maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and organization information and material.
- Must be analytical, patient, and desire to serve and work with Plan participants and their dependents.
- Must have ability to prioritize work with little or no supervision.
- Must have advanced organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
- Successful experience in solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Proven ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Job Demands
The work atmosphere is fast-paced and deadline oriented.
Working Conditions
The work is performed in a normal office environment where the noise level is usually moderate. On rare occasions evening and weekend work and/or extended hours may be necessary to complete work.
Physical Demands
The position involves, but is not limited to, written and oral communications skills, use of computer keyboard, close vision, sitting for long periods, stooping, bending and reaching.

COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $ 60,963 – $78,942.
