Bricklayers & Trowel Trades International Pension Fund (IPF) is currently hiring in the Washington, DC area for the position of Retirement Services Team Leader!

The IPF was founded in 1972 and is a defined benefit plan covering 92% of members of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) throughout the U.S.; ensure the retirement security of more than 26,00 U.S. pensioners and beneficiaries. The IPF also provides benefits to over 900 pension and beneficiaries under the IPF-Canada Plan. 

The Fund also offers the BAC Save Retirement Savings Plan which offers supplemental security for members consisting of both an Annuity and 401K Plan. Both the BAC Save Annuity and 401(k) Plans have proven track records of assisting members, bridging gaps in their finances and improving living standards. Building upon its core mission of ensuring a secure, dignified retirement for skilled Union masonry craftworkers, the IPF strives to deploy the latest technology to administer its Plans and adheres to solid investment practices to protect Fund assets. Our participants are the most highly skilled trowel trades craftworkers across the United States and Canada including bricklayers, stone and marble masons, cement masons, plasterers, tile setters, terrazzo and mosaic workers, and pointers/cleaners/caulkers. 

The Position:
IPF is seeking a Retirement Services Team Leader to manage and monitor the email group for pension applications, oversee training, process pre-estimates via email and hand delivered mail, as well as generating letters stating to calculate benefits. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily activities of Retirement Services Team Operations
• Works closely with the Manager, Pension Fund Operations to ensure optimal utilization of resources; analyzes and makes recommendations regarding workflow
• Reviews all pension applications for IPF, merged Local Plans and IPF-Canada that are submitted by the Retirement Services Team for accuracy and completeness to be submitted to the Board of Trustees
• Reviews of correspondence and benefit amounts submitted by the Retirement Services Team for accuracy and completeness to be provided to the applicant, beneficiary or other representatives
• Communicate with the Pension Payroll Department and Pre-Retirement Services Team Leader to ensure efficient workflow and timely processing of pension applications 
• Analyze bottlenecks making recommendations for process improvement 
• Takes corrective measures with authorization; escalates as needed
• Participates in daily, weekly, monthly, and annual planning process as appropriate
• Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position
• Keeps the manager, Pension Fund Operation promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance of takes prompt to corrective action when necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken
• Performs all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned 
• Ensures proper training of personnel assigned
• Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel assigned
• Draft correspondence regarding pension benefits 
• Communicates effectively with Union, Plan Actuary, professional advisors, and colleagues regarding the Plan Rules and Regulations
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required of requested 

Skills & Other Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in a related major or at least five (5) years’ experience as a team lead or supervisory role preferred 
• Retirement Plan Associate (RPA), Certified Pension Consultant (CPC), or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation preferred
• Prior experience working with pension benefit plan administration, preferably in defined benefit plans 
• Excellent technical knowledge of defined benefit and defined contribution pension scheme 
• Technical knowledge and expertise in pension calculations 
• Ability to read, understand, and apply the Rules and Regulations of the IPF, IPF-Canada, and merged Local Plans accurately to determine eligibility for benefits
• Superior writing, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate across variety of communication platforms and constituencies 
• Demonstrated success in leading projects and diverse teams
• Ability to problem solve, set goals, create and implement action plans and evaluate process and results 
• Proficient in MS Office and experience working with Adobe Acrobat

Salary: $86,000.00 – $100,000.00

Schedule: Monday to Friday
