Membership Services / Data Entry Specialist

Based in Gaithersburg, MD

 

The Membership Services/Data Entry Specialist positions’ primary function is to accurately enter and maintain member information into the Union’s database system. This includes but is not limited to inputting new member details, updating existing membership records, and ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. 

This position reports directly to the Secretary Treasurer and provides administrative support to the Office of the Secretary Treasurer along with working in tandem with the Field Services Administrator to support Field Services on member-related projects. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processing membership applications
  • Track new hires, terminations, probation dates
  • Maintain LUMMS database
  • Quarterly audit of LUMMS vs. Employer lists
  • Run LUMMS reports
  • Scan and file payroll reports for each employer 
  • Process and distribute Active Ballot Club forms to appropriate employer
  • Answer staff questions regarding current and past members
  • Schedule and attend quarterly membership meetings
  • Manage Secretary Treasurer calendar and travel arrangements
  • Assist with membership questions
  • Provide member benefit reference information
  • Coordinate with union liaisons of each employer to establish procedures
  • Submit monthly report to the International
  • Quarterly audit of LUMMS vs. International list
  • Submit monthly report to Region 2
  • Run reports requested by Field and Organizing staff
  • Create and produce membership mailing labels for staff
  • Assist with mass mailings
  • Schedule Meeting and Conference room
  • Provide back-up to Executive Assistant to the President
  • Answer phone as needed

EXPERIENCE:

  • Produce information through the proficient use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and type 40-45 wpm
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical computations
  • Familiarity with membership database
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to interact with union members in a professional and supportive manner
  • Commitment to confidentiality when handling member information
  • Problem solving-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with staff
  • Knowledge of office equipment, such as copier, telephone, fax machines and other similar machinery
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to proofread and compose simple correspondence
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and problem-solve 
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing situations for the purpose of accomplishing results
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Occasional weekends and travel may be required
  • Ability to work extend hours from time to time

REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s degree preferred); 2-3 years of experience in data entry, member services, or administrative support. Bilingual skills are preferred, but not mandatory.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: The current starting salary range is $64,480 – $69,000 based on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefit package includes paid annual, personal and sick leave, paid holidays, healthcare, dental and vision benefits, and 401K & pension plan.
