Labor & Workforce Coordinator

The Milwaukee Area Service & Hospitality Workers Union (MASH) represents roughly 1,100 cooks and cleaners, bartenders and baristas, servers and security guards whose labor powers the hospitality industry. We are a growing union that organizes the unorganized while fighting for, winning and defending industry-leading contracts. We are a member-driven, democratic union.
MASH is hiring into a position created by one of our collective bargaining agreements, funded by the employer but located at and directed by the union, working on behalf of the members of the union covered by the contract.
Labor & Workforce Coordinator
- Full-time, exempt, bargaining unit position
- Directed by the principal officer of the Union, in consultation with operations and human resources counterpart of an employer
- Wage rate in accordance of collective bargaining agreement; non-wage benefits according to collective bargaining agreement and corporate policies
Duties & Responsibilities
- Drives contract compliance by the Employer as part of team including additional Labor & Workforce Coordinator, union principal officer, and Chief Steward
- Coordinates labor relations processes including joint labor-management committees, contract implementation/enforcement and grievance machinery, negotiations and agreements between contract cycles, and related
- Maintains Seniority lists, grievance database, discipline tracker, work rules/policies/procedures database, and
- Organizes Stewards Council and assists principal officer and Chief Steward in work with Stewards, including contract monitoring/enforcement/implementation projects and leadership development
- Drives staffing and scheduling processes including maintenance of negotiated staffing levels, employee availability, bargaining unit work determinations, and scheduled employee determinations
- Analyzes labor relations processes, workforce management, and employer operations and provides recommendations to union principal officer and employer leadership
- Assists in recruitment for bargaining unit vacancies
- Assists in union organizing projects to grow representation and bargaining power
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrable commitment to trade union values; ideal candidate demonstrates familiarity and aptitude with labor relations processes
- Basic aptitude with email, word processing, spreadsheet, and database tools, particularly Google Suite, or similar skillset and willingness to become trained
- Ability to develop and implement systems; highly attentive to detail

Note: Current rate of pay is $26.50 per hour (or $55,120 annually), increasing to $28.00 per hour on January 1, 2026. Additional compensation matters found in collective bargaining agreement.
